LAN Administrator III (2024)

IT@JH Client Technology Solutions (CTS) is seeking a LAN Administrator III who will be responsible for all desktop/mobile devices for the Johns Hopkins Public Safety (JHPS) and Johns Hopkins Police Department (JHPD) on the East Baltimore and Homewood Campus locations.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides direct support to JHPS and JHPD clients for desktop, application and peripheral support. This position will also support end user technology in JHPS communications centers.
  • Supports JHHS/JHU clients with specialized JHPS software such as video management and computer-based panic alarms.
  • Operational work prioritized by IT management provided by JHPS IT leadership but will organizationally report into IT@JH CTS organization. Once properly trained and acclimated to the environment, the individual in this position will be expected to perform at a high level of technical caliber and be able to resolve/troubleshoot/maintain the overall health and compliance of the end point fleet.

Specific Devices, Software, Projects

  • Responsible for end point support for applications that exist in JHPS as well as applications used institutionally.
  • Supports a number of different client-side devices including Dell laptops/desktops, Apple MAC/OSX, mobile device platforms using iOS and potentially Android along with other peripherals specific to JHPS. Applications specific to Public Safety including CCURE 9000, victor video management, Lynx panic alarms, visitor management, app tracker, ARMS, AXON, and other Public safety software.

Scale/size of Area, Project and/or System Supported

  • Works with a team to support approximately 1,000 customers across multiple campus locations and will include support for Public Safety officers and the JHPD. Will work with the various application and server teams for the specialized software needed in the department. Systems in these areas are critical to the functions provided the Public Safety/JHPS departments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years college coursework.
  • Five years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $62,300 - $109,000 Annually (Commensurate with experience)

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
