Thank you to all our families that came out or attended virtually on Saturday 6/13/20 for the annual Hail & Farewell Luncheon! Mississippi has twelve appointees that will start their plebe year in July and two will enter Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) in Newport, RI. We welcome you into the Naval Academy Family. We wish the Classes of 2024 and 2025 all the best and hope they have a fun and exciting roller coaster ride with no terrifying plunges. The Parents Club also voted for the 2020-2021 board members the Scribner family (class of 2022) and Currie family (class of 2023) thank you for volunteering and keeping the parents club running. We are in need of more parents to volunteer for the board; if you are interested please contact us at usnapcms@gmail.com. We wish our 2020 Ensigns and 2ndLt’s all the best as they join the fleet and start their Navy/Marine Corps careers. It’s National Signing Day and Jacob Greenwood from Madison, MS officially signed with the United States Naval Academy to play football with the Class of 2024.Congratulations to the Greenwood family!

The USNA Parent’s Club of MS hosted the annual Christmas Dinner with 86 people in attendance at Table 100 in Flowood, MS this past Friday. Present were 17 Midshipmen, 8 Candidates to include two from the Greystone Foundation School, and their families. The parents club presented Flags to our First Class Midshipmen flown over the US Capital Building on the Navy’s Birthday in their honor. We also presented Lt. Governor Proclamations to the Second Class Midshipmen for signing their 2 for 7 service contract (two more years of school for at least 5 years of service). We celebrated their accomplishments and honored our First and Second class Mids. Our area BGO coordinator Mr. David Price introduced each Candidate and spoke about being a Blue and Gold Officer and USNA in general he also introduced the Alumni we had in attendance. The parents club was also able to give a gift jar of candy and $20.20 to each Midshipman in attendance.

Congressman Guest’s Academy Day 2019 at Madison Central High School was a great success. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Naval Academy and West Point Military Academy parents clubs we were able to supply snacks to all our candidates, students and their families. Thank you to all the parents who donated snack items and special thanks to Michelle Smothers (mother of Midshipman Fridge ’20) for the wonderful Navy parents presentation table.
